The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has evolved over the years and investment on the local bourse market has been made easier in the recent years due to the advancement of technology, periodical reviews, and modifications done by The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), amongst others regulating bodies.
The nation’s local bourse market has over the years listed both medium, and large-scaled capitalized companies. The Securities and Exchange Commission, Central Bank of Nigeria, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) amongst others has made it easier for these companies to list on the exchange market and even more potential companies to list also.
These regulating bodies have made calls for more companies to list on The Nigerian Stock Exchange following the successful listing of large capitalized companies such as MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, Airtel Africa amongst others. The likes of Globalcom Telecommunication (Glo World), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) have all been urged to list on the Nigerian stock market lately.
The NSE cuts cuts across several sectors of the economy such as the Financial Services Sector, The Oil and Gas sector, The Consumer Goods Sector, The Industrial Goods Sector, The Information Communications Technology (ICT) Sector, The Insurance Sector, The Agricultural Sector amongst others.
The Financial Services Sector comprises of companies such as Zenith Bank Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA), Access Bank Plc, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc etc.

Dangote Cement Plc: Dangote Cement is the most capitalized company listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange based on the group’s Market Capitalization. The Industrial Goods firm has been leading the NSE most capitalized stocks list long before MTN Nigeria was listed.
Since MTN Nigeria came on board, its been a power tussle between these two African brands giants. Both Dangote Cement and MTN Nigeria are leaders in their various sectors. Dangote Cement is an Industrial Goods based company while MTN Nigeria operates in the ICT Sector.
Dangote Cement Plc has a Market Capitalization of N2.39 trillion as at Friday, 13th December 2019. The Industrial Goods firm services cuts across manufacturing, packaging, distribution of cement. The group is a Pan-Africa company with manufacturing presence in some African countries.
Dangote Cement is listed on the Premium Board of the NSE with an outstanding shares capital of 17.04 billion. The group transact with DANGCEM as its moniker on the Nigerian local bourse market.

The group’s services includes; Sim registrations, Vouchers sales, Sims sales, Router and Modem sales. They also sale customised MTN phones, both Andriod and Java phones.
The company was incorporated on 8th November 2000 whilst it was listed on the NSE on May 16th 2019.
Airtel Africa Plc: Airtel Africa Plc operates in the ICT sector, the company is listed on the NSE’s Main Board. The group has a Market Capitalization of N1.12 trillion. The company’s trading symbol is AIRTELAFRI.
Airtel Africa Plc has an outstanding shares value of 3.76 billion. The company was incorporated on July 12th 2018 and was incorporated on July 9th 2019.
