The Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FCMG) companies have over the years evolved and contributed so much to the Nigerian Economy. The demand for the FMCG goods have been on a greater increase.

 The rate at which the FMCG products have been consumed in Nigeria have tremendously increase with increase in population, urbanization, social welfare amongst others. As the name implies these goods are demanded in high quantities.  Fast Moving Consumer Goods cost little and command high demand in the Nigerian markets.  

Some of these FMCG companies have over the years listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). The aim of this listing is for the Companies Directors and the general public to trade the listed companies’ shares amongst other securities.

Some of these companies include; Nestle Nigeria, Dangote Sugar, Nigerian Breweries amongst others. In this article we are going to rank these listed companies according to their Market Capitalization on the NSE. The data used for this research work was obtained from the NSE database by Financial Metrics Nigeria research team.

Nestle Nigeria Plc: Nestle Nigeria is the most capitalized Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company in Nigeria. The firm is the fourth most capitalized listed company on the Nigerian Stock Exchange behind Dangote Cement, MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, and Airtel Africa.

Nestle Nigeria has an Equity Capitalization of N1.03 trillion. The group was incorporated as a Limited Liability Company on September 25th, 1969. Nestle Nigeria was the second most capitalized listed company on the NSE before MTN Nigeria Communications Plc and Airtel Africa Plc got listed and pushed the company a bit further away.
